what is culture?
a dynamic system of rules, implicit and explicit, established by groups in order to ensure their survival involving attitudes, values, beliefs and behaviours
what is a cultural norm?
an unwritten but understood rule of society or culture for behaviours that are considered acceptable or unacceptable
what is a cultural value?
the relative importance that an individual places on things in their daily life
what is surface culture?
the culture we can easily see when we have contact with a group such as the language spoken or the food they eat
what is deep culture?
the beliefs and attitudes a culture has such as importance of personal space or perception of time
what is a cultural dimension?
another way to describe a culture - refers to values of a member of a society living within a particular culture

what is an individualistic culture?
people have looser ties to their social groups and tend to act independently, working towards their own goals

people are much closer to their society and responsibilities are shared
