Core Pure - Methods In Calculus Flashcards
What is an improper integral?
Any integral that has infinity or negative infinity or has an undefined point within the domain of the range of the integral limits
How do you do improper integrals?
You identify the problem and then redefine them as a letter and use a limit sign (doing it mathematically
Then you say as lim … the answer tends to this
How do you do impropper intgrals if the problem is in the middle?
Same thing but just break it up into 2 different limits each with its own letter
What does it mean if something is divergent?
It doesn’t converge
What does it mean if something converges?
It will get to an answer
How do you show that something diverges?
Show that at that limit the limit doesn’t exist
Simple line s t tends to 0 1/t is undefined
How do you calculate the mean value of a function?
What is the mean of?
Mean(y) = k
What is the mean of?
What is the mean of?
What is the mean value of?
What is different about partial fractions?
You my have quadratic factors on the bottom and as a result you need to have ax+b on the top of the factors
What is normally the best way to work out A,B,C,D in these partial fraction questions?
Comparing coefficients
How do you do this?
When integrating what do you not want to forget?
+C
