what is the first line treatment for a cord prolapse?
A
arrange emergency c-section
in mean time put patient on all fours
- tocolytics may be given i.e. terbutaline

what are the risk factors for a cord prolapse?
A
premature rupture membranes prematurity artificial rupture membranes transverse lie, breech cephaloperlvic disproportion twin pregnancy multiparty polyhydramnios

how would you diagnose/identify cord prolapse?
A
abnormal foetal HR
cord becomes palpable vaginally or it may be visible if below introitus

what complication can occur with cord prolapse ?
A
cord compression and/or cord spasm resulting in foetal hypoxia and/or death
