Conversion stuff Flashcards
What are the three conversion strategies?
Style, Locations, Modules.
What are the two strategies for style?
Direct, Parallel.
What are the three strategies for locations?
Pilot, Phased, Simultaneous.
What are the two strategies for modules?
Whole System, Module by module.
What are the pros and cons of direct?
Pros:
Simple and straightforward
Cons:
Possible downtime and any issues with the new system will cause disruption.
What are the pros and cons of parallel?
Pros:
Provides a fall back system
Cons:
User has to complete tasks twice
What are the pros and cons of pilot?
Pros:
Any issues are contained within the pilot location/locations.
Cons:
Takes more time to install the system everywhere.
What are the pros and cons for phased?
Pros:
Any issues are contained within the pilot location/locations.
Cons:
Takes more time to install the system everywhere.
What are the pros and cons of Simultaneous.?
Pros:
Eliminates the need to organize groups for conversion.
Cons:
Conversion and user training must occur at all locations at the same time, which may require more staff.
What are the pros and cons of whole system?
Pros:
The simple and straightforward, the whole system is required if development is not done to allow module conversion.
Cons:
If the system is large and complex it may be harder for people to learn
What are the pros and cons for module by module?
Pros:
Reducing the amount of training and simplifying the training process.
Cons:
The system must be designed in such as way that it can be added this way and each module must work with both old and new systems.
