What is the purpose of hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyl transferase (HGPRT)?
Plays a role in recycling of purine bases hypoxanthine and guanine into the purine nucleotide pool

What are the signs of Lesch Nyhan syndrome?
Almost exclusively occurs in males Intellectual disability Aggresive and impulsive behaviour Gout Renal disease
How would you manage an acute gout flare up?
NSAIDs
Colchicine
Steroids
Name a drug that will lower uric acid
Allopurinol (Xanthine Oxidase Inhibitor)
What is Polymyalgia Rheumatica?
An inflammatory condition of the elderly commonly associated with giant cell arteritis
What are the diagnostic features of Polymyalgia Rheumatica?
> 50 y/o
ESR > 50
Dramatic steroid response
How would you treat polymyalgia Rheumatica?
Prednisalone 15mg per day initially
18-24 month course
Bone prophylaxis
