what was the policy of containment?
a policy developed by George Kennem in 1946 to try and contain communism in Russia. planted U.S. military bases around Russia with weapons/bombs pointed at them– leads to Vietnam war

what was the Truman doctrine?
a plan that said that wherever the Russians go/do, the U.S. will counter their move
what was the Marshall plan?
the plan that funded with the Truman doctrine
what was the Warsaw Pact?
an organization developed by USSR to counter europe’s North Atlantic treaty organization (NATO)
what did USSR develop to counter SEATO?
they partnered with communist China
what was the Berlin airlift?
when the U.S. flew in supplies to Berlin after russia cut off their resources.
why did the Korean war begin?
northern Korea was heavily influenced by communist China, southern Korea was influenced by America. northern Korea wanted communism to take over, tried to push southern Koreans out. U.S. helped SK, China helped NK.
what was the Cold War?
dissent between USSR and USA!!! both had developed atomic bombs … what now
