Q

What are interglacial and glacials

A

An interglacial period (or alternatively interglacial, interglaciation) is a geological interval of warmer global average temperature lasting thousands of years that separates consecutive glacial periods within an ice age. The current Holocene interglacial began at the end of the Pleistocene, about 11,700 years ago.

Q

What is the carbon cycle

A

The carbon cycle is the cycle of how carbon rotates through the our world and how human interfered with it to be a cause of climate change.

Q

Natural Stages of the Carbon Cycle

A

Carbon is asorbed in the animals and plants. When the plants and animals are eaten the carbon is passed to the other animal of if the animal dies the carbon goes to the sea and air. Carbon in the sea and earth build up to create fossil fules

Q

How human interfered with the carbon cycle

A

We made factories that pumped up the fossil fuels and release Unnecessary carbon into the atmosphere where builds up Faster than the trees and animals can absorb it. We are also cutting down trees called deforestation which reduces the amount of carbon thatIs naturally Absorbed (also trees make carbon into oxygen which we as humans need).

Q

How does the green house effect effect the carbon cycle

A

The greenhouse effect effect the climate change because gasses such as CO2 blocks some heat from escaping the atmosphere and going into space and instead reflects back down to Earth.

Q

Stages of what happens to heat that comes down to earth because of climate change

A

The Sun is always pass through the atmosphere to earth. The earths surface is warmed. He has reflected on the Earth back to the atmosphere. Some heat escapes into space with some heat is trapped by CO2 another greenhouse gases burning fossil fuels and cutting forests increase CO2 levels so the atmosphere gets warmer

18
Q

Global greenhouse gas emissions by source

A

Energy supply 26% transport 30% industry and 19% agriculture 14% forestry 17% buildings 8% waste and waste water 3%

19
Q

How ill climate change affect uk

A

In 2015 the south of the UK will increase in a 2.5°C change of temperature is estimated correctly in summer it is estimated at 2050 most of the UK would of decreased precipitation by -30% and in winter 15% increase.

20
Q

Other consequences of climate change

A

Lack of habitation and increase of insects as well as heat attracted ones. Increase of droughts and erosion by heavy rain

21
Q

Carbon footprint

A

The amount of carbon dioxide given off by a city for its transport housing energy and industry

22
Q

BedZed

A

BedZed is a eco community in the Uk that make eco friendly homes. They use 81% less energy 45% less electricity and 58% less water by thick walls to trap heat and low lighting as well as solar panels and grass on roof for instillation and fitted with sedum to collect rainfall water for grey water harvesting.
There is also green transport like bus stops and safe bike storage with houses facing south to face the sun.

23
Q

Hydroelectric energy

A

Hydroelectric energy is energy derived from the movement of water. Water has mass. It falls and flows downward due to gravity. When it moves, it has kinetic energy which can be harnessed.

24
Q

Rotational slip

A

Ice moves in a circular motion from it’s own weight in a hollow
