Q

Explain the two Local factors Aspect and Altitude:

A

Local Factors:

Aspect: Direction a slope faces in relation to the sun e.g if your on the north side of a slope in the northern hemisphere it will be colder

Altitude: height above sea level, higher you are colder it is

Q

Explain the three global factors:
Distance from the sea
Prevailing winds
Latitude

A

Distance from the Sea: The sea takes longer to heat up/cool down than land which means if your close to the sea cooler summers milder winter

Prevailing winds: Warm and Cold air masses different types of winds Irelands wind is a southern westerly which means are wind comes form the Atlantic and distance from the sea shows that we have cooler summers, milder winters because wind picks up moisture from the sea

Latitude: The distance you are from the equator the equator is the hottest place on earth because the sun is directly shone onto it, we are in the northern hemisphere which means that the sunshine is at a slant making it less warm
