Muscular involvement
Gross or fine
Gross= large muscle groups e.g. shot putt
Fine= small muscle groups e.g. Darts throw
Environmental influence
Open – closed
Open= affected by the environment e.g. passing football
Closed= not affected by the environment e.g. free throw in basketball
Continuity
Discreet – serial – continuous
Discreet= clear beginning and end. E.g. netball pass Serial= Number of discrete skill linked together e.g. triple jump Continuous= no clear beginning and end e.g. running
Pacing
Self – external
Self= performer determines when to start E.g tennis serve
External= action is controlled by the environment or others E.g. receiving serves
Difficulty
Simple – complex
simple = less decisions and sub routines e.g. Catching
Complex = lots of decisions and sub routines e.g. Front flip
Organisation
Low-high
Low= broken down e.g. Triple jump
High = difficult to break down e.g. Javelin throw
