Checkpoint 2 Flashcards
Classes 6 to 9
How do pilots handle inflight emergencies?
Every emergency is different and has a different procedure.
- However, I’d follow some basic rules:
- First, I would control the aircraft;
- After that, identify the problem and work the appropriate checklist;
- Then, I would see if the problem was solved;
- If not, I would declare an emergency and land in the nearest airport.
I would _____ - hipotese

EXAMPLE
My first solo flight was in 2010,
I was flying an ARCHER ll in Waterford,
The weather was great, sky was clear,
I flew for 50 minutes,
Performed 4 touch-and-go landings in a visual traffic pattern.
The landing was great,
After landing, I celebrated with friends.
What was the worst emergency or flight in your career?

Se nunca teve uma emergencia ou problema, conte sobre um voo ruim (turbulencia, uma arremetida…)
What do you think about the cockpits in the future?
-
Choose one system
(GPS, FLIGHT SCREENS, AVIONICS, INSTRUMENTS…) -
Mention benefits
The information will be more precise;
This will bring more efficiency;
Reduce the workload; and
Improve our situational awareness;
and flight safety.
Describe the last airport you operated on.
The last airport I operated on was ___(name)___.
- Runway
- Tower / non-towered
- Procedures

________ is a very bad airport, in my opinion.
What was the best flight in your career?
The best flight in my career was my _________.
(checkride? first solo flight? First flight as a captain?)
- Year
- Aircraft
- Route
- Duration
- Why was it special?
_________________
The best flight in my career was my first flight with my father.
It was in 2010, and
I was flying an Archer ll.
We made a local flight in Michigan
I remember we flew for 2 hours and
It was a great experience we shared.
bate-volta = roundtrip
navegação = cross-country
Do you believe airplanes will fly themselves in the future?
✅ Yes, I think so.
Because, technology is improving and
automation will be more present inside the cockpits.
I believe that, the cockpit layout will change,
because there will be only 1 pilot onboard.
And all the systems will be enhanced.
In 15 years we will see autonomous aircraft flying everywhere.
______________________________
❌No, I don’t think so.
I think that computers can’t make decisions,
and we’ll need pilots to deal with emergencies and possible problems.
I also believe that passengers will not feel safe flying without a captain in the cockpit.
Describe this picture.
In this picture, I can see a …
- Commercial jet with a damaged radome.
- Low-wing, twin-engine aircraft.
- It is a Boeing 737.
- The airplane is parked on a remote stand.
- There is a set of airstairs connected to the front door.
- There are wheel chocks on the nose gear.
- In the background, there’s another airplane.
- The sky was overcast.
How do you normally prepare for an early morning flight?
I start my preparation the night before
In the day of the flight, I wake up extra early and go to the airport, There:
- I Gather the Flight Documents;
- Study the Weather Reports;
- Read the Notams;
- Do a Briefing;
- Check the Flight planning.
- Perform a Walkaround;
- Finally, I Prepare the Cockpit.
