Chapter 9 Flashcards

1
Q

Define routing protocol.

A

A tool used by routers to dynamicaly find all the netwrokds in the internetwork as well as to enssure all routers have the same routing tabel. It determines the path of a packet through an internetwork. ie RIP p. 278

Q

What is a routed protocol used for?

A

Routers use it to send user data packets through the established internetwork. They are assigned to an interface and determine the method of packet delivery. ie IP and IPv6. p. 279

Q

define dynamic routing.

A

a protocol on one router communicates with the same protocol running on neighbor routers. THe roters update eachother about all the networks they know about ahnd place information into the routing table. p. 279
