Emergency Move

A

Move used when there is potential for danger. Use an emergency move to drag or pull the patient to a safe place before assessment and care. Ex: Emergency Clothes Drag, Blanket Drag, Arm Drag, Arm-to-arm drag. Always along the long axis of the body.

17
Q

Urgent Move

A

May be necessary to move a patient with an altered level of consciousness, inadequate ventilation, shock or extreme weather conditions.

18
Q

Non-Urgent Move

A

If scene and patient stable may use these moves: Direct Ground Lift. Extremity Lift.

19
Q

Transfer Moves

A

Moves for bed to stretcher: Direct Carry. Draw Sheet method (used to avoid strain of unnecessary lifting + carrying)

20
Q

Binder Lift

A

Wrapped around torso. 25 handles. Used before moving to stair chair or stretcher.

21
Q

Short Backboard/KED

A

Spinal immobilization device to be used when sitting. Wooden short board has generally been replaced with a vest type device such as the Kendrick Extrication Device until you can move to supine on backboard.

22
Q

Vacuum Mattress

A

Placed on mattress and then air removed from device allowing to mold around patient. Limits pressure point tenderness. More comfortable then long spine board.

23
Q

One Provider Drag

A

Only use if immediate life threatening danger exists and you are alone. Ex: Front Cradle, Firefighter Drag, One person walking assist, firefighter carry and packstrap carry.
