Convergence
The merging of previously distinct technologies, media forms and media industries.
Digitization
The translation of information from various analog cables, tribe optic networks, telephone lines and over the air, then reconstructed by various kinds of electronic receivers, such as computers, cell phones, and so on.
The CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission) is guided by four principles.
Transparency, fairness, predictability, timeliness
Common carriers
Obliged to carry any message (content) that a company or individual wishes to send at an equitable cost.
Contract carriers
Provide transmission services to specific companies or individuals, but are not obligated to provide those same services to other individuals or companies.
