How is the alveoli linked to diffusion

A

The alveoli are moist. Oxygen in the air dissolves quicker in this moisture and is picked up by the red blood cells in the capillaries. The walls of the alveoli are very thin so diffusion is quicker. The alveoli are folded increasing surface area which makes diffusion quicker

What is diffusion

A

Diffusion is the net movement of particles from an area of high concentration to a low concentration. The particles move randomly and end up having an equilibrium in the room or place that diffusion is happening. When this occurs the particles balance out and creates an even amount of particles in the high and low concentrated place

A

Passive diffusion can be quicker at hotter temperatures because the particles have more energy and move round quicker at higher temperatures. The particles go in a state of excitement when they have more energy
