Chapter 7- Geometry Flashcards
What is a line?
A series of points that extend forever
What is a point?
A location in space
What is a ray?
Part of a line with one endpoint and all the other points on the other side of the endpoint
What is as segment?
Part of a line with two end points and all the points in between
What is a plane?
A flat surface that extends indefinitely in all directions
What are intersecting lines?
Lines that have one point in common
What are parallel lines?
Lines in the same plane that never intersect
What are skew lines?
Lines that are not parallel or intersecting because they are in different planes
What is an angle?
A figure formed by two rays with a common endpoint
What is a vertex?
The point of intersection in an angle
What is an acute angle?
An angle that measures between 0-90°
What is a right angle?

What is an obtuse angle?
An angle that measures between 90-180°
What is a straight angle?
An angle that measures 180°
What are complementary angles?
When the sum of two angles is 90°
What are supplementary angles?
When the sum of two angles equal 180°
What are adjacent angles?
Angles that share a side
What are vertical angles?
Angles that opposite each other
What are congruent angles?
Angles with equal measures
What is a scalene triangle?
A triangle with no congruent sides
What is a isosceles triangle?
A triangle with two congruent sides
What is an equilateral triangle?
A triangle with all equal sides
What is a right triangle?

What is a circle?
A set if points all the same distance from a given point
What is a radius?
A segment that connects the center of a circle to the circle
What is a diameter?
A segment that goes straight through the circle
What is a chord?
A segment that has both end points in the circle
What is an arc?
Part of a circle
