What is streak?
the color that remains when a mineral is rubbed on a tile. The Streak may be a different color than the mineral.
What is luster?
Tells us how light bounces off a mineral. Some minerals have a shiny luster.
What is hardness?
describes how easily a mineral can be scratched. some minerals are soft and can be scratched with a fingernail. Some are hard like a diamond.
What are rocks?
they are non living things made of minerals
What are the 3 main group of rocks?
- forms from tiny pieces of rocks
- changes from one type of rock into another
- forms from melted rock
When melted rock cools and hardens, it makes
igneous rock
