Symbiosis
An interaction between two or more organisms
Commensalism
A symbiosis where only one organism benefits; the other(s) neither harmed nor helped
Mutualism
A symbiosis where two or more organisms benefit.
Types of mutualism:
Facultative mutualism - organisms that can survive apart.
Obligate mutualism - organisms that cannot survive apart
Faculative Mutualism
A symbiosis when each organism is benefited by being with the other but can survive apart from each other
Obligate Mutualism
A mutualism when each organism not
only benefits fromt he relationship, but also cannot exist without the other
Mycorrhizal Fungi
Fungi in mutualism with plant roots that provide water and nutrients to the plants
Gut Flora
Biomatrix microorganisms
aiding digestion by living in mutualism in animal intestines
Cell Wall
A structure outside the cell membrane that strengthens the cells of bacteria, algae, plants, and fungi
Biological Evil
Anything in the biological world that causes suffering of humans or animals
The Curse
Natural evil allowed into the
creation by God in response to Adam’s disobedience.

Gradual wearying of an organism; a negative effect of the curse
