What is the normal respiration rate for adults?
12 to 20 times per minute.
How is the Respiratory rate measured by?
Counting the patient’s breaths for 30sec and doubling the number.
What does assessing respiration immediately after the MA count a patient’s pulse?
Allows the MA to evaluate breathing inconspicuously.
What does assessing respiration do to the patient?
Keeps the patient from consciously altering the depth and rate of their respirators.
What is called when the patient has any difficult or labored breathing?
Dyspnea.
What is Bradypnea?
An abnormally slow rate of respiration.
What is the Tachypnea?
Faster than normal rate of respiration.
How can you assess the patient’s respiratory rate?
Count the rise and fall of the patient’s chest for 30sec.
