What is Anaphylaxis?
A serious, life-threatening allergic reaction, usually to foods, insects stings, medications and latex.
Initial symptoms of anaphylaxis can start as soon as?
5min after coming in contact with an allergen.
What are some warning signs of anaphylaxis?
Difficult swallowing, wheezing, chest tightness and hives.
Many people use the term anaphylaxis and anaphylactic?
Shock interchangeably.
Anaphylactic shock is a complication of anaphylaxis, when does it occurs?
when blood pressure drops extremely low with poor oxygen flow to the organs.
Does an individual in Anaphylactic shock may also lose consciousness?
Yes.
Anaphylaxis requires immediate medication treatment including?
A prompt injection of epinephrine.
If Anaphylaxis is not treated immediately can be fatal?
Yes.
Anaphylactic shock may require additional treatment including?
Oxygen therapy, vasopressors to raise blood pressure, corticosteroids and intravenous fluid.
