A religious movement that went through the colonies
Great Awakening
A committee that got in touch with each-other and other towns and colonies. The people wanted to challenge British laws
Committees of Correspondence
An act that required the people of the colonies to pay for a seal or a stamp that they had to have on papers.
Stamp Act 1765
A standoff between the British and the Boston’s in which the Red Coats killed 5.
Boston Massacre
This act allowed the British East India Company to directly sell tea to the American Colonists.
Tea Act
When angry colonists dressed up as Indians and dumped tea in the Boston Harbor.
Boston Tea Party
This Act was issued to punish the Colonists for the Boston Tea Party. Closed Boston Harbor, Massachusetts’ Charter was cancelled, Royals committed of crimes went to a British Trial, colonists had to house British Soldiers, a large amount of land was given to Quebec, and General Thomas Gage became governor.
Intolerable Acts (aka Coercive Acts)
And intellectual and scientific movement.
Enlightenment era
This man told dramatic sermons for sinners to repent. Was one of the most important leaders in the great awakening
Jonathon Edwards
A local leader who believed that Parliament could not tax the colonists without their permission.
Samuel Adams
This act reduced the powers of the English Monarch.
