produces: one ovum and 3 nonfunctional polar bodies, each with 23 chromosomes
accomplishes: formation of female reproductive cells
Turner syndrome
a female is born with a single X chromosome rather than 2, these girls remain small, with stubby fingers and toes and a “webbed” neck
Klinefelter syndrome
a male is born with one or more extra X Chromosomes (XXY), long limbs, and sometimes have big ears and long faces, they are sterile and a puberty develop feminine characteristics
