Chapter 1.9 - I, Q, emf and p.d. Flashcards
State the equation for current in terms of a flow of charge.
I = Q / t
State the equation for electrical power, which incorporates current.
P = I x V
State the equation which shows what the volt involves.
V = W / Q, or V / E / Q
State the equation which can be used to determine the quantity of charge carriers moving past a certain point.
Q = n e
Sketch a simple circuit, to include a battery and resistor. Indicate via means of an arrow the respective directions of;
1 - Conventional current.
2 - Electron flow.
Define electric current.
Charge passing a point in 1 second.
Define potential difference.
Energy transferred from electrical to other forms when unit charge passes through it.
Define Electromotive force.
Energy converted from other forms to electrical energy when unit charge passes through it.
Define the Volt.
One joule of energy is dissipated per unit of charge.
