Chapter 14—MISSED APPROACH Flashcards
When and how to initiate the missed approach?
When the missed approach is initiated prior to the MAP, the pilot shall, unless otherwise cleared by ATC, fly the IAP as specified on the approach plate to the MAP at or above the DA/DH before executing a turning maneuver.
From where does the missed approach obstacle clearance starte?
Missed approach obstacle clearance is predicated on beginning the missed approach procedure at the MAP from DA/DH and then climbing 200 ft/NM or greater. Initiating a go-around after passing the published MAP may result in loss of obstacle clearance.
If any of what 3 contitions exists, a missed approach must be initiated!
- The runway environment is not in sight.
- You are unable to make a safe landing.
- You are directed by the controlling agency.
