ch12 mofo Flashcards
What are the bases of a prism?
They are the congruent polygons lying in parallel planes
What’s an altitude of a prism?
It’s a segment joining the two base planes and is perp. to both.
The height of the prism is the altitude.
Lateral faces
Faces of a prism that are not the bases
Oblique prism height
forms a triangle on the leaning side, yknow what i mean?
Altitude of a pyramid
The segment from the vertex to the base, which is also perpendicular to it.
its also the height of the pyramid
slant height
the sign is a cursive L, its the line that goes from a vertex to the middle of a side on o pyramid, only works for regular pyramids
Cylinder
like a prism, but the bases are circles, not polygons
Similar solids
solids that have the same shape but not necessarily the same size.
With similar solids, what is equal to what? (sf, la’s, etc)
-sf = a : b
-base areas, lateral areas, total areas = a^2 : b^3
-Volumes = a^3 : b^3]
(THINK OF SF, ROP, ROA, ROV)
Right Prism formulas
LA= ph
TA= ph+2B
V= Bh
Regular Pyramid
LA= 1/2 pL
TA= 1/2 pL+B
V= 1/3 Bh
Right Cylinder
LA= 2πrh
TA= 2πrh + 2πr^2
V= πr^2h
Right Cone
LA= πrL
TA= πrL + πr^2
V= 1/3 πr^2h
Sphere
LA= go fuck urself 😊
TA= 4πr^2
V=4/3 πr^3
Sphere
LA= go fuck urself 😊
TA= 4
V=
