Q

Dominant vs Recessive

stuff used for heterozygous:

  • Incomplete dominance
A
  • Dominant: only one copy of an allele (chromosome) is needed to express a given phenotype
  • Recessive: Two copies are needed to express the phenotype
  • Incomplete dominance: i.e HH (long tail) x hh (short tail) = Hh (medium tail)

Q

Hardy-Weinberg principle

A

p + q = 1

p2 + 2pq + q2 = 1

(p2 = TT , 2pq = Tt , q2 = tt)

Q

Divergent, Paralell, and convergent evolution

A

Divergent: species sharing a common ancestor become more different

Parallel: species sharing common ancestor evolve in similar ways due to similars pressures

Convergent evolution: species not sharing a recent ancestor evolve to become more similar
