A
It is a “good” policy when it increases access to services and communication opportunites for those whose communication disorders put them at risk for educational, OR SOCIAL DISADVANTAGE.

Sociatal View
A
It is a “bad policy when it strains government budgets that support Medicare, Medicaid, Special Education Services, etc. that many rely on and taxpayer fund.

A
Any action taken by local, state or federal officials to address a given problem or set of problems

- Even the place you choose to work will have policies to consider – documentation

Forms of Policy Making
A
- Laws
- Regulations
- Guidelines (easier to change – doesn’t involve court)
- Court Decisions (Roe vs. Wade – can be historical)
- Dev. Of Programs (helps children access medical care)
- Distribution of money/benefits
- Levying of taxes

Guidelines
A
- Developed by Communities, School districts, Healthcare agencies, Hospitals, or Professional Agencies to provide interpretations of how laws and regulations are to be implemented in specific settings
- These cary less legal weight but are easier to change if necessary
