breaking down of rock due to chemical changes within the rock

When carbonic acid weathers limestone and chalk

What is permeable?
It means water can pass through it
What are grimes?
The gaps on the surface of limestone
What are clints?
The resistant slab of limestone

What are swallow holes?
Rivers make their way underground via swallow holes
How is a cave formed?
When swallow holes continue to dissolve
What are stalactites?
Deposits of dissolved calcium carbonate that attach themselves to the roof of the cave
What are stalagmites?
Deposits of dissolved calcium carbonate that attaches themselves to the bottom of the cave
