Cefaclor adverse effects

A

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, superinfection, bone marrow depression, risk for pseudomembranous colitis.

Cephalosporin facts

A
  • Never given w/ Aminogylcosides, increases risk for nephrotoxicity.
  • Used for preoperative prophylaxis 60 minutes prior to first cut to prevent surgical site infections. Vancomycin can also be used 120 minutes prior to first cut.
