Cefaclor indications
A
Treatment of respiratory, dermatological, urinary tract, and middler ear infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

Cefaclor actions
A
Inhibits the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, causing cell death in susceptible bacteria.

Cefaclor adverse effects
A
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, superinfection, bone marrow depression, risk for pseudomembranous colitis.

Cephalosporin facts
A
- Never given w/ Aminogylcosides, increases risk for nephrotoxicity.
- Used for preoperative prophylaxis 60 minutes prior to first cut to prevent surgical site infections. Vancomycin can also be used 120 minutes prior to first cut.
