Cellular Resperation Flashcards
Photosynthesis
The process of plants gathering energy from the sun and converting it into there own
Autotrophs
A animal that can’t make there own food
Heterotrophs
Animal that makes there own food
Chlorophyll
The green pigment that gathers energy from the sun
Cellular respiration
a set of metabolic reactions and processes that take place in the cells of organisms to convert biochemical energy from nutrients into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and then release waste products.
Fermentation
the chemical breakdown of a substance by bacteria, yeasts, or other microorganisms, typically involving effervescence and the giving off of heat.
Cell cycle
The cycle a cell takes to reproduce
Interphase
the resting phase between successive mitotic divisions of a cell, or between the first and second divisions of meiosis.
Replication
To copy or make another
Chromosomes
a threadlike structure of nucleic acids and protein found in the nucleus of most living cells, carrying genetic information in the form of genes.
Mitosis
a type of cell division that results in two daughter cells each having the same number and kind of chromosomes as the parent nucleus, typical of ordinary tissue growth.
Cytokinesis
the cytoplasmic division of a cell at the end of mitosis or meiosis, bringing about the separation into two daughter cells.
