Q

Vacuole. What does it do?

A

Stores air, liquid or food in animal cells;

Makes a plant cell firm by taking in water

16
Q

What is Mitosis?

A

Mitosis is the process by which a eukaryotic cell separates the chromosomes in its cell nucleus into two identical sets, in two separate nuclei forming two identical ‘daughter’ cells.

17
Q

What are daughter cells?

A

Each daughter nucleus has the same number of

chromosomes as the parent nucleus and they are genetically identical.

18
Q

What is a Tissue?

A

Cells of the same type working together

having the same function make up a tissue.

19
Q

What are 4 Animal Tissues?

A

– Connective tissue
– Epithelial tissue
– Muscle tissue
– Nerve tissue

20
Q

What is an Organ?

A

Different tissues working together to perform a particular function make up an organ.

21
Q

What are 3 Animal Organs?

A

– Brain
– Heart
– Stomach

22
Q

What are 3 Plant organs?

A

– Flowers
– Leaves
– Roots

23
Q

What is a System?

A

Different organs working together to perform a

particular function make up a system.

24
Q

What are the 2 Plant Systems and 7 Animal Systems?

A
– The circulatory system
– The digestive system
– The excretory system
– The respiratory system
– The reproductive system
– The skeletal system
– The nervous system

– The transport system
– The reproductive system

25
Q

How does DNA multiply?

A

Fission and addition of new bases.

26
Q

What is the division of labour?

A

It is the dividing of work among cells where each type of cell is designed to do a particular function well. This is more efficient than if each cell does all the job on its own. Cells may have special features for jobs to be done more efficiently.
