Q

steps of genetic engineering

A
  1. identify section of DNA that contains required gene from the source chromosome
  2. an enzyme is used to extrat the required gene from the source chromosome
  3. a plasmid is removed from the bacterial cell and cut open using enzymes
  4. a different enzyme is used to insert and seal the gene into the bacterial plasmid
  5. the altered plasmid is inserted into a host bacterial cell and given the optimum conditions to multiply. each bacterium produced has been geneically modified.
