Caries Management Flashcards
What are the treatment options for reversible pulpitis in children?
Restoration
Place a dressing
What are the treatment options for irreversible pulpitis in children?
NB: Child is pre-cooperative, and pain is from a primary tooth.
Refer for treatment, extraction with sedation or GA.
Can also try to dress tooth with sublining of corticosteroid antibiotic paste, then prescribe pain relief.

What caries managment options are there for inital lesions?
Anterior teeth - site specific prevention
Posterior teeth - FS, site specific prevetion, PRR
What caries management options are there for advanced lesions?
Anterior - Selective/complete caries removal, non-restorative cavity control
Posterior - Selective caries removal or Hall technique
What are the managment options for restorable teeth with a close pulpal relationship?
Explain uncertain prognosis to patient/family
Hall technique or pulpotomy
What should your management be if there is caries in a primary tooth, but it is close to exfoliation?
Non-restorative cavity control
Site specific prevention
