Cardiovascular system Flashcards
What does myogenic mean
Comes from within
Conduction of the heart
Impulse from SA node
Travels to the AV node
Travels down the bundle of HIS in the septum of the heart
Travels down to apex of heart in purkinje fibres
Causes ventricular systole
What 3 receptors is HR controlled by
Chemoreceptors
Baroreceptors
Proprioceptors
What are the 2 sections of the nervous system
Central nervous system
Peripheral nervous system
How is HR increased
Receptors detect increase/decrease
Impulses sent to cardiac control centre in medulla
Increase in Sympathetic nervous impulses sent to SA node, decrease in parasympathetic
Stimulates release of adrenaline
Adrenaline acts on SA node, increasing HR
How is HR decreases
Receptors detect changes
Impulse sent to Cardiac control centre
Increases parasympathetic impulses, drecreases sympathetic to SA node by the vegus nerve
Stimulates acetylcholine release
Act on sino atrial node
What is a stroke
Where blood supply to the heart is cut off
What are the 2 types of stroke
Ischaemic stroke
Haemorrhagic stroke
What is an ischaemic stroke?
When a blood clot causes the stroke
What is a haemorrhagic stroke?
When a weakened blood vessel supplying the brain bursts
