Hormonal agents
CLASS: Imatinib
Inhibitor
CLASS: Trastuzumab, Rituximab
Monoclonal antibodies
Cisplatin
Alkylating agent that forms highly reactive platinum complexes, crosslinks, and causes DNA damage and inhibits cell proliferation.
Highly protein bound
Poorly penetrates BBB
Slowly excreted in urine
Uses: Testicular cancer (85-95% curative), ovarian cancer, lung, esphageal, gastric
Methotrexate
Inhibits dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR)
Interferes with DNA/RNA synthesis
Antimetabolite
Prednisone, hydrocortisone, dexamethasone
Glucocorticoids
Suppress immune response, mimic naturally occurring adrenal corticosteroids
Cyclosporin
Calcineurin inhibitors
Necessary for T-cell receptor signalling and activation
Azothioprine, cyclophosphamide, hydroxychloroquine
Cytotoxic agents
Kill rapidly proliferating cells
Muromonab (CD3), RhoGAM, Adalimumab (TNF-a)
Immunosuppressive antibodies
Created in a lab, directed against cell-surface antigens/receptors
Sirolimus, Mycophenylate Mofetil, Thalidomide derivatives
Additional agents
