Acute vs Chronic cancer viruses

A

Acute viruses directly transform genes. Tumor are polyclonal. Examples are Kaposi’s sarcoma (HHV8) and EBV

Chronic viruses immortalize cells, but need an additional mutation to cause cancer. Tumors are monoclonal. Ex: HPV cervical cancer.
