what is a first degree burn
superficial epidermal burn that is red and painful, dry with no blisters
what are second degree burns
partial thickness superficial dermal) : painful, pink and blistered with slow cap refill
partial thickness ( deep dermal): white with patches of non blanching erythema.
third degree
full thickness burns - white / brown/ black , no pain
which burns require a referral to secondary care ?
-deep dermal and full thickness burns
- superficial burns > 3% TBSA in adults and >2% in kids
-superficial dermal burns involving face, hands, feet, perineum.
-inhalation injury
-electrical / chemical burn
- suspicion of NAI
management of severe burns
