A

What was the procedure to Burger?

A

Same procedure as Milgram except:
-29 men and 41 women aged 20-81 volunteered in the experiment via an advert (were paid $50)

  • Teacher receives 15V test shock
  • Shocks rise in 15V intervals
  • At 75V the learner begins to make sounds of pain
  • At 150V the learner complains about chest pains and cries he wants to stop
  • If the teacher continues to 165V the experiment is stopped

  • 70% of participants were prepared to to shock past 150V
  • Little difference between men and women (women very slightly less obedient)
  • Empathy in participants didn’t affect results
