Breathing Flashcards
The concept
Air moves from ___ pressure to ____ pressure
high to low
describe breathing in regards to pressure gradient, thorax, and diaphragm
air moves from high pressure to low pressure when we Inhale. as we inhale, diaphragm flattens like pancake while contracting creating space in thorax to allow for air to enter lungs creating high pressure In lungs (r side 3 lobes and l side 2 lobes), upon exhale, diaphragm relaxes returns to resting parachute position.
to achieve full internal rib rotation (down in and back), what needs to happen?
full exhale of air to get full parachute (zoa)
to maintain a newly gained zoa or newly gained parachute of a diaphragm or a newly gained internally rotated rib position, what muscles help to maintain it particularly?
hamstrings and internal obliques
to practice diaphragmatic breathing, one must get an appropriate L and R ______
Zoa
when forced inspiration (air hunger) is needed, what muscles kick in to bring the rib cage up and out?
external intercostals, closed chain scm, scalenes, serratus Posterior Superior
when forced expiration is needed, what muscles will pull the ribs down and in?
internal intercostals, rectus abdominals, QL, LS, UT, rhomboids, serratus Posterior inferior
