Q

How is pain referred?

A

referred back to origin spinal levels of sympathetic supply via afferent fibers and then via dorsal root (splanchnic nerves)

Q

Appendicities

A
  • becomes enflamed
  • afferent sympathetic fibers refere pain back to lesser splanchnic nerve region
  • diffuse pain around umbilical region (even tho is further down)
  • then presses on parietnal peritonoum - somatic sensory supply, and then pain is felt as acute and localised to lower right quadrant
