Biological therapeutics Flashcards

1
Q

Why do we use therapeutic antibodies?

A
  1. They swiftly provide therapeutics to target the disease-related molecules.
  2. They have a high level of specificity and a high affinity to the target molecule.
  3. They achieve a high level of efficacy and fewer adverse events
  4. Can target diverse molecules and they can be applied to a wide range of therapeutic targets.

Q

What are Fc fusion proteins.

A
  • Alternative to monoclonal antibodies
  • Fc domain extends the half-life of therapeutic protein
  • Due to interaction with FcRn
  • Identified by –cept ending in name
