BASIC RULES

- ANALYZE THE SITUATION
- TAKE PROPER ACTION

E. ELT ON
M. MAYDAY CALL TRANSMIT
Definition:
LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (ASAP)
Land without delay at nearest suitable area (i.e. open field) at which a safe approach and landing is reasonably assured.
LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICAL
The landing site and duration of the flight are at the discretion of the pilot. Extended flight beyond the nearest approved landing area is not recommended.
ENGINE FIRE DURING STARTING/SHUTDOWN
- STARTER - CONTINUE TO MOTOR THE ENGINE
- THROTTLE - CLOSE
- FUEL VALVE SW - OFF
- ign eng cb - out
- shutdown - complete
ENGINE FIRE DURING FLIGHT
- THROTTLE - CLOSE
- AR LANDING - PERFORM
- FUEL VALVE SW - OFF
- bat sw - off
FUEL CONTROL AND/OR GOVERNOR FAILURE
ENGINE OVERSPEED
- THROTTLE - CONTROL N2 WITHIN LIMITATIONS
2. LAND ASAP
FUEL CONTROL AND/OR GOVERNOR FAILURE
ENGINE UNDERSPEED
- COLLECTIVE LEVER - LOWER TO MAINTAIN NRO
- LAND ASAP
if N2 drops below 95%:
- AR LANDING - PERFORM
ENGINE FAILURE
- AR LANDING - PERFORM
DRIVE SHAFT FAILURE
- THROTTLE - REMAINS FULL OPEN
2. AR LANDING - PERFORM
TAIL ROTOR CONTROL FAILURE
COMPLETE LOSS OF THRUST
- COLLECTIVE LEVER - LOWER
- AIRSPEED - NOT BELOW 50KIAS
- AR LANDING - PERFORM ASAP

4. THROTTLE - CLOSE
TAIL ROTOR CONTROL FAILURE
FIXED PITCH FAILURE
- POWER, AIRSPEED - ADJUST FOR MIN. YAWING
2. PEDAL OFF LANDING - PERFORM
hydraulic system failure
- Airspeed - adjust to 60-70KIAS
- Hyd boost cb - out
If power is restored:
3. Land as soon as practical
If power is not restored:
- Hyd boost cb - in
- Hyd sys sw - off
- Land as soon as practical (run-up landing 10-15kt)
TRANS OIL PRESS
If trans oil pressure indication is low:
- LAND ASAP
TRANS OIL TEMP
If trans oil temperature indication is high:
- LAND ASAP
Battery temp
- Bat sw - off
If bat temp light extinguishes:
- Bat sw - on
- Land as soon as practical
