They have the permeable sand on top of the impermeable clay leading to water sitting on top of it increasing it’s weight so it is more likely to collapse

They have built on the cliffs which interferes with natural drainage systems as well as increasing the weight
Social impacts ?
- lands slips are a concern for tourists and locals who use the beach
- old buildings are under threat the houses in Barton court are only 20m away from cliff
- several buildings already lost most reactant café

- mudflows are dangerous and difficult to predict
