A
the progression of playing from tee to green is broken
-if a ball in a penalty area is not found, progression is not broken and penalty area relief restores it

3 minutes from when player or caddie arrives to area where ball is lost

- You may move, bend, break grass, bushes, branches
- you may move sand/water without penalty
- there is no penalty for improving area
- there is no penalty is ball is moved when looking (replace it)

When is a ball OB
A
when the entire ball is outside boundary edge of course (part of ball means it is in play)
-players may stand OB to play shot

Provisional ball
A
another ball is played to save time
- if you find original ball you must play it
- if you don’t find it you play provisional under stroke and distance
- must say provisional before playing and if you dont then that ball is automatically in play
