1) the cell replicates it’s DNA and makes 2 copies of every chromosome. It also replicates all the sub cellular structures
2) Mitosis - one set of the chromosomes are pulled to either side of the cell by spindle fibres. the nucleus divides
3) the cytoplasm and the cell membranes split forming 2 identical daughter cells
