Skeletal System
The skeletal system is your body’s central framework. It consists of bones and connective tissue, including cartilage, tendons, and ligaments.
1st function of skeletal system
Support- internal support system that provides shape and support to our trunk and limbs.
2nd function of skeletal system
Protection- Protects internal organs.
3rd function of skeletal system
Movement- Muscles contract or shorten, which pulls on the attached bones. Joints allow bones to rotate or glide in certain ways.
4th function of skeletal system
Storage- Bones store minerals such as calcium and phosphorous. Calcium is essential for blood clotting. Phosphorus is essential for the development and maintenance of healthy bones and teeth. Bones also store bone marrow, which is fat storage
5th function of skeletal system
Blood cell formation- Red bone marrow forms new blood cells
