Using wrong time/temp can ruin items

Stored in clean dust proof areas
If wraps loosen, tear, become wet, etc, re-wrap and put it in autoclave again
What is dry heat sterilization?
Alternative method of sterilization from steam sterilization
What should you not put in dry heat?
Soft rubber or some specific plastics
What is an example of a dry heat and autoclave sterilizer at home?
Dry heat- oven
Autoclave- pressure cooker
What is an autoclave?
Machine that uses steam under pressure to sterilize equipment and supplies
Preparation of items before loading them into autoclave?
Wash thoroughly and rinsed
No residue bc autoclave can cook it onto items permanently
Wrap items correctly with indicators
What must wrapping materials be able to do?
Allow for penetration of steam
What are indicators?
Ensure that articles have been sterilized
Ex) autoclave tape, sensitivity marks
