Chronic inflammatory process of multiple joints

Airway involvement:
cervical spine (Decreased flexion, extension, rotation)
TMJ ( Decreased rotation And gliding)
cricoarytenoid joint (Decreased rotation and gliding)
Atlantooccipital joint (decreased flexion, extension)

begins in childhood and continues throughout life
