What is colour
What you see when light reflects from an object back to the eye
what is line
A mark made by a moving point for example a pencil
What is tone
How light or dark something is
What is texture
How’s something feels or looks like it feels to touch
What is pattern
A symbol or shape that is repeated
What is form
Something that is three dimensional EG A cube
What is acrylic paint
Thick heavy paint that can be used smoothly or to create a texture
What is watercolour
A solid or liquid paint that can be watered down and layered in glazes
what is ceramic
pots or other thins made from clay and hardened by heat. from the greek word kermos meaning burnt earth
what is kiln
a furnace or oven for firing clay work
firing
the process of heating clay work in the kiln firing permanatly transforms the clay to a rock like state
glaze
a mixture of minerals and water that is applied to clay surfaces and melts into a glossy coating and colour when fired
slip
clay mixed with water used for joining two pieces of clay together
pinchpot/ coil pot
a ceramic pot created b y pinching or rolling and layering the clay
cross hatching
when groups of parrelel lines are drawn close together acroos each other especially at an angle of 90 degrees
modelling tool
wooden or plastic tools for cutting shapes, joining slabs, scoring and mark making on clay
macro photography
extremely close up photography , usually of very small and living organisms. the subject in the photo is shown larger than life size.

clay which has been made flat by even rolling

the materials and tools used by an artist to create a piece of art
proportion
the size relationship between different parts of an object EG height compared to width
