Q

Define: Least common multiple of two nonzero integers

A

The least positive multiple (or product) of both integers
Ex. LCM of 30 and 75 = 150
30x2,30x3,30x4,30x5… 30x5=150

Q

Define: Greatest common divisor (or greatest common factor) of two nonzero integers

A

The greatest positive integer that is divisor of both integers.
Ex. GCD of 30 and 75 = 15
Divisors of 30: 1,2,3,5,6,10,15

Q

Define: Quotient and Remainder

A
A whole integer and a remainder
Ex. 19/7= 2R5
Ex. 6/24= 0R6 (24 cannot go into 6)
Ex. -32/3= -11R1 (greatest multiple of 3 that is LESS than or equal to -32 is -11x3=-33 which is 1 less than -32
Ex. 100/3=33R1 (3x33=99, 99+100)
