Worry, stress, nerves, self-doubt

Increase heart rate, blood pressure and breathing rate

A
When a performers’ level of arousal is at an optimum level, performance will be at it’d peak

Characteristics of a performer ‘in the zone’
A
- performer is focussed
- confidence is high
- performance is effortless/automatic/smooth
- in control of emotions
- experiences satisfaction/peak flow

A
- ZOF is different for each performer
- biggest factor is personality
- response to anxiety is also linked to sensitivity of reticular activating system
